Discover Our Mountain Majesty

Talk show super-star Oprah Winfrey once said that St. Lucia's two majestic volcanic plugs, the fabled twin peaks of Gros Piton and Petit Piton, located south of Soufrière and situated in a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are among the top ten things to have in your "bucket list." We couldn't agree more! Every time returning visitors see the Pitons, they often remark that it seems like they are seeing them for the first time, every sighting is mind-blowing. On a full-day excursion to the Pitons, you can hike all the way to the top, noticing everything from the orchids, the hummingbirds, the butterflies, the canopy of trees and one of the most spectacular views you will ever encounter.

Zip Through The Rainforest

May 23, 2016

While you’re in St. Lucia, you’ll want to get a chance to check out the local rainforests, and if you want some extra excitement during your explorations, zip-lining is the way to go. An easy drive away from Rodney Bay, Babonneau has a tour run by Rainforest Adventures, who will take you up into and through the lush canopy.

This adventure begins with a short hike on the ground so you can take in the natural beauty, and then you’ll be hitched up to zip from platform to platform. This tour also offers a Tarzan Swing within the zip-lines, where you can swing from rope to rope into a net (while still safely harnessed). You’ll get to see a lot of the rainforest very quickly.

For anyone looking for a more low-impact adventure, you can opt to take an aerial tram tour instead, where you’ll still get to ride through the top of the forest and see all the great sights, but with a bit less adrenaline. Those who want a more intimate and educational experience in the rainforest can also try the Birding Hike offered, or a hike along the Jacquot Trail, (which even offers a nature interpreter who can teach you about the local flora and fauna as you go along). Combined, these activities through Rainforest Adventures could make for quite a rich day trip.

If you’re hungry when you return to Rodney Bay, try stopping into the Crescendo Jazz Lounge, which hosts live jazz music to unwind to if you’re left with post-adventure jitters. You can pick up some savory food and a cocktail, and while this venue is relatively new, its servers are already well-known for their friendliness.
When it’s time to head back to The Landings, you can order some dessert and a cigar at the Beach Club restaurant on site, which is a great way to wrap up after a long day.
