Discover Our Mountain Majesty

Talk show super-star Oprah Winfrey once said that St. Lucia's two majestic volcanic plugs, the fabled twin peaks of Gros Piton and Petit Piton, located south of Soufrière and situated in a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are among the top ten things to have in your "bucket list." We couldn't agree more! Every time returning visitors see the Pitons, they often remark that it seems like they are seeing them for the first time, every sighting is mind-blowing. On a full-day excursion to the Pitons, you can hike all the way to the top, noticing everything from the orchids, the hummingbirds, the butterflies, the canopy of trees and one of the most spectacular views you will ever encounter.

Arts & Heritage: A Month of Celebration

October 02, 2017

Join us this month for a celebration of Saint Lucia’s culture and heritage. For the entire month of October, Saint Lucians will be celebrating numerous events in honor of the annual Arts & Heritage Festival, which will culminate with a fabulous party during the last weekend of October with the arrival of Jounen Kwéyòl (Creole Day) on October 29. During the festival, visitors can take part in street parties, games, folklore, theatrical performances, art exhibits, and a wide variety of Creole food samplings, such as red bean bouillon, salt fish, and crab callaloo. This is a celebration of heritage and culture, and many of the islanders will be wearing authentic Creole dress made of Madras.

The festival traditionally names four host communities for Creole Heritage Month/Jounen Kwéyòl, and these 2017 honorees are: Babonneau in the north, Vieux-Fort in the south, La Ressource, Dennery in the east, and Marigot in the west. In addition to the national festivities, events will also be held on the four host communities. Learn more about Creole Culture with a visit to the Lushan Country Life heritage project here.
